Please be advised that your student may arrive home a few minutes late on the days prior to these Evacuation Drills. Drivers will take a few minutes to explain to the students, their role in the process of a “Safe” and “Orderly” School Bus Evacuation. Your Bus Driver Thanks You!
Yorktown Elementary will conduct the second round of ISTEP+ testing beginning April 28th. The test schedule by grade level is as follows:
Grade -- 5/6 -- 11:50 to 1:30; 5/7 -- 8:15 to 10:45; 5/8 -- 8:15 to 11:25
4th Grade -- 4/28 -- 8:20 to 10:55; 4/29 – 8:15 to
10:45; 4/30 – 8:15 to 11:25; 5/1 -- 8:15 to 10:40
5th Grade -- 5/1 -- 11:05 to 2:00; 5/2 -- 8:15 to 10:45; 5/5 -- 8:15 to 11:25;
5/6 -- 8:15 to 10:50
Please avoid scheduling appointments during testing times. Also, please have your child(ren) well-rested and fed breakfast so he/she can perform their best. YES will serve breakfast, as usual, for $1.50.

YES is participating in the Box Tops program. A monthly contest is held for the most Box Tops collected. The winning classroom receives an ice cream treat party. The next collection date is April 25th.

If you are not signed up to receive automated calls or mass emails from Yorktown Community Schools, contact the YES office at 759-2770 to get signed up.
On two hour delay days, child care is offered at Yorktown Elementary for students in kindergarten through fifth grades. Parents may drop off any K-5 student at YES's main door starting at 7:30 AM. No prior sign-up or spot reservation is necessary. Qualified school personnel will oversee supervision. The cost is $4.00 in cash upon arrival for each student using the child care. Breakfast will not be served; however, students are encouraged to bring their own breakfast with them. In case of unforeseen school closures on days that are initially delayed, parents must pick up students by 10:00 AM or a fee of $50 will be assessed to cover the cost of staffing. Bus transportation for K-2 students will be provided to transport students to PVE at the conclusion of the delay.

Parents--please note that attendance letters are mandated by the State of Indiana. Attendance letters are sent weekly.
Y.E.S. School hours: Students may enter the building at 7:30; school begins at 7:50. Dismissal is at 2:20.
